Apparel and Textile Manufacture. 190902

Description

This hands-on sewing training program prepares participants with practical skills used in professional sewing and textile environments. Training includes industrial sewing machine operation, measuring and cutting, garment construction, pattern use, production techniques, quality control, workplace safety, and professional expectations. Participants complete practical projects while developing accuracy, efficiency, problem-solving, and confidence. The program is designed to prepare participants for entry-level opportunities in sewing, alterations, apparel production, textile manufacturing, and related occupations.

As a second pathway, the program introduces small business development for participants interested in self-employment. Topics include basic pricing and costing, customer service, order management, and foundational practices for operating a small sewing business.

Through classroom instruction, hands-on practice, and practical projects, participants develop accuracy, efficiency, problem-solving, and professional sewing competencies to support employment first, with self-employment as an additional pathway.
