Description
This 4–5 week Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A training program prepares participants for entry-level employment as commercial truck drivers by providing the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience required to obtain a CDL-A license. Trainees receive instruction in vehicle operation, safety regulations, pre-trip inspections, basic maintenance, trip planning, and defensive driving. Training includes a combination of classroom instruction, driving range practice, and supervised on-road experience aligned with federal and state CDL requirements, ensuring participants are prepared to complete the written permit and road/skills examinations.
Upon completion, participants are qualified for immediate employment as heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers in regional and long-haul positions within the transportation and logistics sector. This program supports workforce needs identified by the Maine Department of Labor by providing a short-term, high-impact training pathway into a high-demand occupation.
