Description
The University of Maine Presque Isle Bachelor of Social Work Program prepares students for entry-level professional generalist practice in social work. To accomplish this, a person-in-environment framework, global consciousness perspective, respect for human diversity, and knowledge based on scientific inquiry will be emphasized as the means to understand and practice social work ethics, values, and skills. The program is committed to promoting the well-being, growth and empowerment of all individuals, families, groups, communities, and organizational systems.
The Social Work major is a four-year generalist course of study that builds on and is integrated with a liberal arts base that includes knowledge in the humanities, social, behavioral, and biological sciences. The Social Work Program is accredited by the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE).
All Bachelor of Social Work candidates must complete the University’s General Education Curriculum. Students entering social work field education courses should have completed forty-five credit hours and have a 2.50 grade point average.
