Job Title: General Production Worker / Machine Operator Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to work with a variety of production machinery and tools while supporting manufacturing operations across multiple shifts in Kennebunk, ME. You will unpack, clean, inspect, and load materials into machines, perform basic maintenance tasks, and assist with documentation, material handling, and assembly. This position is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoy hands-on work, staying active on their feet, and contributing to a collaborative production team.

Responsibilities

+ Unpack, clean, and prepare various materials for production use.

+ Inspect materials and components for quality, accuracy, and defects before loading into machines.

+ Load and unload materials into production machinery in a safe and efficient manner.

+ Operate a variety of production machines and tools according to established procedures and safety guidelines.

+ Perform basic preventive maintenance (PM) on machinery as directed, even without prior maintenance experience, such as cleaning, simple adjustments, and routine checks.

+ Complete required documentation related to production activities, including counts, inspections, and process steps.

+ Transport materials and finished goods within the facility using appropriate methods and equipment.

+ Support assembly and related production tasks as needed to meet daily output and quality targets.

+ Work on foot for the duration of the shift, including standing, walking, and performing repetitive tasks.

+ Participate in team lifts for heavy items and follow safe lifting practices at all times.

+ Use safety glasses, safety shoes, and other required personal protective equipment while on the production floor.

+ Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.

+ Collaborate with team members and supervisors to address issues, improve processes, and support continuous improvement efforts.

+ For maintenance-focused roles, support machinery operation and troubleshooting under guidance, leveraging mechanical aptitude to identify and resolve basic issues.

Essential Skills

+ Ability to work in an ITAR-regulated facility, including meeting all eligibility and compliance requirements.

+ Previous industrial or similar experience of at least 6 months in a production, manufacturing, or comparable environment.

+ Ability to work on your feet for the full duration of the shift, including standing, walking, and performing repetitive tasks.

+ Strong mechanical or technical skills, with the ability to learn and operate various production machines and tools.

+ Consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality.

+ Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn new tasks and processes.

+ Comfort with using safety glasses, safety shoes, and other required personal protective equipment.

+ Basic ability to follow written and verbal instructions, including safety procedures and work instructions.

+ Capability to participate in team lifts and safely handle heavier items as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in general production, general labor, or machine operation roles.

+ Exposure to basic preventive maintenance tasks on machinery, even at an entry level.

+ Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machinery operation and troubleshooting, especially for maintenance-focused positions.

+ Experience in environments involving inspection, cleaning, assembly, or materials handling.

+ Flexibility to work different shifts, including 1st and 2nd shift roles.

+ Comfort working in a structured production environment with defined processes and quality standards.

+ Interest in growing into more advanced machine operator or maintenance roles through on-the-job learning and internal opportunities.

Work Environment

The role is based primarily in Kennebunk, ME, with additional maintenance opportunities in Sanford, ME. You will work in a production and manufacturing facility that operates multiple shifts, including 1st shift roles such as TSD Cummins Machine Operator, TSD Specialty Racing Machine Operator, and Medtronics Cleaner/Fixturer/Inspector, as well as 2nd shift OMT/PVD Machine Operator positions with a shift differential. The environment involves regular use of production machinery, tools, and inspection equipment, with a strong focus on safety and adherence to procedures. You will spend most of the day on your feet, moving materials, operating machines, and participating in team lifts for heavier items. Safety glasses and safety shoes are required on the production floor, and you will work in a structured, process-driven setting that values cleanliness, organization, and consistent production output.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kennebunk, ME.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 – $22.00/hr.
