Activities Assistant / Van Driver

Help residents stay connected, engaged, and safely on the move.

Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a dependable and compassionate Activities Assistant/Van Driver. In this role, you’ll safely transport residents to appointments and assist with activities when transportation is not scheduled. It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys driving, helping others, and making each day a little brighter for older adults.

What You’ll Do

• Safely transport residents to and from medical appointments in a 14-passenger facility van

• Assist residents entering and exiting the van and navigating appointment locations

• Properly secure wheelchairs and residents using the Q’Straint system, seat belts, and van lift

• Remain with residents during appointments when needed and provide respectful personal assistance

• Coordinate appointment details with nursing, including meals, supplies, and other transportation needs

• Complete routine safety checks and keep the van clean, organized, fueled, and ready for use

• Help coordinate vehicle maintenance, inspections, registration, and repairs

• Protect resident privacy and follow all safety, confidentiality, and facility policies

• Support recreational programs and resident activities when not providing transportation

What You’ll Bring

• High school diploma or GED required

• CNA certification preferred, but not required

• Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and current automobile liability insurance

• Ability to safely operate a 14-passenger van

• Basic computer skills

• Ability to safely assist residents with mobility and respond during emergencies

• A calm, responsible approach, including the ability to make sound decisions in changing traffic conditions

• Compassionate and respectful communication with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers

• Flexibility, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
