Teaching Assistant – Special Education & Behavioral Support
Full-Time | Monday-Friday | Day Shift
Position SummaryWe are seeking a compassionate and reliable Teaching Assistant to support students in a therapeutic educational setting. Working alongside the classroom teacher, you will assist with instruction, behavior support, classroom activities, and student supervision to help children succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
Responsibilities+ Assist with classroom instruction and daily learning activities.
+ Support implementation of individualized educational and behavioral plans.
+ Provide supervision and promote a safe, structured learning environment.
+ Help maintain student records and classroom organization.
+ Use positive behavior support and crisis prevention techniques when needed.
+ Communicate student progress and concerns with teachers and treatment team members.
+ Serve as a positive role model for students.
QualificationsRequired:
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Ability to obtain and maintain Maine State Paraprofessional Certification
+ Basic computer skills
+ Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
+ 90+ college credits and/or Education Technician Certification through the Maine Department of Education
+ Experience working with children or adolescents, especially those with behavioral or emotional challenges
+ Previous educational or administrative support experience
