About Camden Hills Regional High School

Camden Hills Regional High School, a state-of-the-art energy efficient facility that includes a wind turbine and solar panels, serves 710 students in grades 9 – 12 from primarily six surrounding towns. The school offers an incredibly expansive array of educational experiences for students and is dedicated to hiring and retaining a high-quality, diverse staff.

Position Summary

We are looking for a skilled teacher who is committed to student success, comfortable with technology, possesses a spirit of collaboration, and seeks to continuously improve their practice with a willingness to contribute to the development of a pilot English 11 course shaped around experiential learning experiences. An ideal candidate has a history of providing engaging, student-centered instruction, thrives in an environment with high standards, is curious about creating a more equitable and inclusive reading and writing culture, and can contribute to the strength of our school and community. Previous high school experience and background in expeditionary, place-based, and/or project-based learning is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging lessons focusing on close reading, research, collaboration, and presentation skills using literary and non-fiction texts. 
• Contribute to a project-based learning environment.
• Manage classroom dynamics, ensuring a productive and respectful learning environment.
• Evaluate student progress and adapt instruction to meet student needs.
• Effectively communicate with students, peers, parents, and administrators.

• Possess knowledge of the diverse ways in which students learn and develop
• Ability to engage with students, home, school, colleagues, and the community to support student learning and wellbeing
• Adapt to student needs
• Communicate effectively

Requirements

• Background check, including fingerprinting
• Maine Department of Education Certification 100 Teacher - English/Language Arts (Grades 7-12)

Pay and Benefits

• Salary depends on experience; Teacher Scale starts at $52,686 (step B - 0)
• Health Insurance (including Vision)
