Project Manager in Training/Operations Strategist in Training
Job Type: Part-time/Full Time Temporary
Pay: $22.50 -24.00 an hour
Expected Hours: 5-15hrs
Schedule: Flexible as determined by the Project Manager
Work Location: Hybrid

Job Summary:
The Project Manager in training will report to the current Project Manager and will be responsible for delegated responsibilities pertaining to current The Water Office, LLC company projects. The Project Manager in training will work with The Water Office, LLC (TWO) team and a variety of vendors, operators, treatment designers, engineers, and owners to support small water and wastewater systems and Tribes to maintain the systems’ compliance with the Safe Drinking Water/Clean Water Act, to upgrade their systems infrastructure, and to develop systems capacity.
Job Description:
- Under supervision of the Project Manager, develop relationships with vendors and contractors.
- Coordinate and track vendor efforts in operations.
- Oversee Ongoing Project List
- Track and Identify objectives, goals and tasks and manage project milestones and deadlines
- Under supervision of the Project Manager, act as a liaison to stakeholders such as MEDWP and MEDEP, vendors, and/or other project members
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously and be able to adjust to changes in priorities
- Coordinate with Office Administration for project billing
- Organize and Run Staff Meetings
- Collaborate with TWO team to develop technical writing products such as:
- Flushing Plans
- SOPs
- System Assessments
- Environmental Reviews
- Environmental Reports
- Income Surveys
- Emergency Response Plans
- Asset Management Plans
- Budgets
- Water Audits
- Rate Analysis
- Assist Operations Manager with Compliance Requirements such as:
- Corrosion Control Plans
- Public Notices
- Consumer Confidence Reports
- Monthly Operating Reports
- Discharge Monitoring Reports
- Under supervision of the Project Manager, seek new business by identifying technical, managerial, or financial needs of clients, watching trends, and via B2B opportunities.
- Track Maine DWP and DEP Grant Funding and prepare submissions.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in Google Workspace, Quickbooks and/or have the ability to complete training for competency in these programs.
- Skilled in technical writing
- Experience in project management or studying to become a project manager
- Willingness to learn agencies such as MEDEP, MEDWP, USDA-RD & USEPA
- Entrepreneurial in nature; self-motivated; proven ability to work independently to achieve required objectives
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering, chemistry, geology, environmental science, geography, public health, or related field preferred.
- Pursuing a Water Operator’s License
- Must possess and maintain a valid Maine State Driver’s License and vehicle insurance.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be comfortable working in an office environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 (thirty) pounds at times.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
- Must possess clear vision for reading documents, viewing computer screens, and identifying details.
- Must be able to clearly hear and understand conversations on the phone and in person.
- Requires frequent use of the hands or fingers for typing, writing, using a mouse, and handling documents.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and carry items or boxes weighing up to 30 pounds.
