Saint Joseph's College of Maine is hiring for the part-time position of Bartender for the 2026 Stone Barn at Sebago Lake season!

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Facilitates an event bar service for all beverages by:

  • Unloading, arranging, cleaning, and restocking bar equipment, ice, and glassware before, during, and after events
  • Preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including beer, wine, and mixed drinks, according to recipe standards
  • Greeting guests warmly, taking orders, making recommendations, and providing fast, polite service
  • Checking identification to verify legal drinking age and refuse service to intoxicated guests, ensuring compliance with all local laws and company regulations
  • Monitoring stock levels behind the bar, restock supplies, and handle cash/credit card transactions using POS systems
  • Being knowledgeable of and keeps up on the latest beverage recipes
  • Handling cash and credit cards, takes responsibility for end of shift cash/credit drop
  • Reporting any impaired behavior or guest issues to the event supervisor
  • Staying focused on the overall event beverage consumption and makes intelligent decisions regarding serving alcohol

Ensures the highest level of Customer Satisfaction by:

  • Interacting and filling customer requests
  • Working well with the other team members to deliver the ultimate guest experience
  • Listening to special requests and filling the request as needed
  • Executing the event to the highest standard, acting quickly to fix issues that may arise
  • Maintaining a professional presence in front of staff and guests at all times
  • Ensuring that tasks and requests are completed with the proper level of urgency
  • Working seamlessly with a team of event professionals and assists in catering as needed to ensure guest satisfaction

Adheres to the highest level of quality, service and cleanliness by:

  • Arriving to a shift on time and in uniform
  • Keeping all equipment clean and tidy during an event and after an event
  • Using safe standards of food and beverage service
  • Following all opening and closing procedures as outlined by bar coordinator, supervisor

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • Some bartending experience required
  • TIPS certified preferred
  • Ability to pass a background check

SCHEDULE: Per Diem position with flexible scheduling required; days, nights and weekends required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Ability to interact with all levels of guests, college students, faculty, staff and senior management
  • Ability to maintain a professional presence at all social events
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple requests in a fast-paced environment
  • An aptitude for math skills for accurately cashing out patrons and measuring beverage ingredients
  • Ability to think forward and anticipate quests needs
  • Knowledgeable of and keeps up on the latest beverage recipes
  • Detail oriented, to include impeccable cleanliness of work area
  • Ability to work on their feet for extended periods of time
  • Knowledge of food service including formal and informal catering events
  • Must demonstrate teamwork skills and a willingness to help others
  • Possesses a positive attitude to foster a cohesive working environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
  • Tolerates work-related stress effectively, maintaining professionalism and adherence to core values in all interactions

  • Bloodborne Pathogens & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Hazard Communication & The Global Harmonizing System
  • Working Conditions in Hot & Cold Environments
