Description

Undergraduate studies are built around a strong liberal arts-based academic background, child development and pedagogy courses reflecting the latest research on teaching and learning, and incorporating standards- and performance-based instruction and assessment. Students intern in area Professional Development Network schools, guided by on-site University faculty, mentoring teachers and other participating K-12 educators.
Students proceed through the critical first two years and the Teacher Candidacy application process at the end of the sophomore year with the assistance of a full-time Advising Center, staffed by skilled advisors. After being admitted to Teacher Candidacy, they begin working with faculty advisors in various areas of specialization. Throughout the program, students develop an e-folio which documents their learning and professional growth and serves as a valuable self-marketing asset. The college’s computer lab offers instruction, problem solving and practice using the latest equipment and educational software.
