Description
This course serves as an introduction to the dynamic and multifaceted world of the retail sector. Throughout this course, students will gain in-depth knowledge of various crucial aspects of retail, including the intricacies of multichannel and omnichannel retailing, the significance of distribution channels, retail ownership structures, the economic impact of retail, the retail product cycle, the process of product and service selection, as well as product allocation and distribution.
Furthermore, the course will delve into essential topics such as selling techniques, pricing strategies, and the pivotal role of customer service. Students will also explore the relationship between retail associates and company branding, gain insights into the customer loyalty life cycle, and examine the intersection of retail and technology.
The course will cover the art of sales, emphasizing the importance of connecting with customers, understanding their needs and interests, personalizing services, and effectively closing sales. Students will also receive comprehensive instruction in retail operations basics, encompassing areas such as inventory management, marketing strategies, and the utilization of technology and tools within a retail context. The course will further provide detailed insights into various retail formats, including retail stores, grocery stores, fast food restaurants, and distribution centers, while also addressing critical topics such as loss prevention, workplace safety, gross profit versus net profit, profit margin, operating expenses versus cost of goods sold, and the pathways to establishing a successful career in the retail industry.
