Instructional Program (CIP)
Description
The CFMT programming offers an educational pathway with various industry credential options for an industry that has historically been underserved by post-secondary education.
The design of the programming is such that will train well-rounded generalists that can diversify within the industry throughout various seasons; as well as preparing a much more focused track with the AAS in Commercial Fisheries and Marine Technology with either a Marine Operations and Maintenance focus or a Fisheries and Aquaculture Track.
This program design is in line with the recommendations from the recently published Maine’s Aquaculture Workforce Development Strategy Report which states, “This program should be designed broadly, to include proximate sectors with similar skills needs such as commercial fishing.”
Industry credentials will include ABYC, US Coast Guard Operator of Uninspected Personal Vessel Captain’s Licensure, and SCUBA.
