Description
This 180-hour course meets all of the requirements set by Federal and Maine State Governments.
Successful completion of both academic and clinical portions of this course prepares an individual for the Maine State Department of Education certification examination.
Students will learn skills necessary to provide health care in a hospital or nursing home setting.
Diploma or GED is preferred for class, but if either of these can not be provided a reading test will be required.
A State Bureau of Identification (SBI) check will be initiated with application and forwarded to State of Maine Registry for Certified Nursing Assistants.
Students will receive forms that require a doctor’s signature to provide documentation of immunizations for Rubella (German Measles), Rubeola (Old Fashioned Measles) – if born after 1956, PPD intradermal tests (TB, Tuberculin test) – within 6 months of clinicals beginning, and Hepatitis B vaccine as well as a Physical Assessment.
Uniform fees are additional; closed toe shoes & a gait belt are required for clinical.
