Description
Healthcare Essentials: Medical Terminology, Electronic Health Records and the U.S. Healthcare System
In this course, students will learn how medical terms are analyzed and built, how to pronounce and spell terms and how to apply medical terms as they relate to basic anatomy and physiology, and common diseases of each body system. They will learn the basics of medical record content and format, techniques for the maintenance and acquisition of health information, legal and ethical considerations in the healthcare field and an overview of the U.S. healthcare system including healthcare facilities, healthcare team member responsibilities and basic principles of the health insurance system. This is a core course that is required for completion of PAE's healthcare programs. Note this class doe not qualify students to apply for jobs in medical coding or records.
