Instructional Program (CIP)
Description
Wooden boats go with Maine like America goes with apple pie. In fact, “The Landing” is a short
stretch of the Kennebunk River where The School is located. It was once an internationally famous
shipbuilding area and the home of more than 20 shipbuilding firms between 1766 and 1867. This
rich history is evident in the boats our students build. The sweet lines of these handcrafted vessels
are something to behold. Many of our graduates took this program because there is nothing quite
like building a wooden boat by hand.
