Position Location: This is a full-time position located in Augusta. This opportunity allows partial telework with management approval.
This is professional environmental science work in radioactive materials licensing and inspection. A highly responsible and technical position requiring involved licensing and inspection procedures for radioactive materials. You will be responsible for maintaining complex database programs, rules and regulations updates, internal administration procedures in this area along with maintenance of emergency response capabilities.
Core Responsibilities
As a key member of the Radiation Control Program team, your core responsibilities will include:
+ Facilitating and reviewing license applications for radioactive materials use
+ Reviewing and drafting regulations to maintain Federal agreements
+ Solving and directing the resolution of regulatory violations
+ Conducting monitoring and sampling activities
+ Conducting inspections of radioactive materials use
+ Conducting investigations of allegations regarding radioactive materials use
+ Designing and managing investigations and inspection programs
+ Writing and presenting reports, policy statements, and position papers
+ Reviewing and conducting training programs
+ Conducting emergency response field sampling
+ Creating safety recommendations pertaining to radiation exposure
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A six (6) year combination of education and/or experience in environmental, biological, physical science, or engineering which includes two (2) years of environmental experience. Qualifying education must include at least 15 credit hours of science or engineering coursework from an accredited educational institution.
Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of radiation detection devices, radiation measurement devices, field sampling procedures, database programs, spreadsheet programs, and mathematics related to radiation biology, decay, and dose calculations.
Necessary Special Requirement: Applicants must have a security clearance and a background check that will be conducted by this agency and the Federal Government
Preferred candidateswill also have:
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills
+ Ability to gather, synthesize, and summarize a variety of information
+ Demonstrated skill applying best practices and standards for health communication, page layout, and information design.
+ The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external partners
+ Computer skills, including knowledge of graphic design software
+ Knowledge of and experience with website development and maintenance
