Position Location: This is a full-time position located in Augusta. This opportunity allows partial tele-work with management approval.
The Immunization Information System (IIS) unit within the Maine Immunization Program is seeking an Immunization Information System Manager (IIS Manager) to oversee IIS data use, legislative and policy interpretation, grant application preparation, and fulfillment of relevant programmatic and funding requirements. This position will be responsible for all technical and management aspects of the IIS involving providers, health plans and other private and public agencies throughout the state.
The IIS Manger will support the ongoing planning and management of a $36 million vaccine budget as part of the Vaccines for Children Program as well as $9 million+ IIS budget. This role will oversee and manage program level projects and coordinate priorities within the IIS, assist with strategic planning, prioritize operational tasks and activities based on available funding, mandates, program deliverables and relative value.
The IIS Manager will exercise a considerable amount of independent judgement in carrying out responsibilities within a highly collaborative environment. Decision making generally requires substantial negotiation and compromise with a variety of considerations, including applicable laws, statues, rules, interests of stakeholders, available data, and resources.
Core Responsibilities
As a key member of the IIS team, your core responsibilities will include:
+ Gathering and compiling reports for evaluation to support equitable distribution of vaccines within the State
+ Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work
+ Lead a team of professionals in supporting and maintaining the Immunization Information System
+ Supervise personnel to ensure program goals and objectives are achieved
+ Ensures that information projects adhere to relevant laws, rules, policies, procedures, and regulations
+ Apply quality project management and improvement tools and processes to operational problems
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or Health Sciences, Health Education, one of the Behavioral Sciences, Public Administration, or Education AND three (3) years’ experience in health program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation OR an equivalent seven (7) year combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred candidateswill also have:
+ Ability to solve complex issues requiring coordination, technical ability, and knowledge of computer and information systems to evaluate alternatives
+ Ability to contribute as a strong member of a self-directed management team
+ Knowledge of principles, methods, and standards of project management
+ Knowledge of health-related vendor products such as Electronic Health Records (EHRs)
+ Ability to analyze business needs and product requirements to create or design a system enhancement
+ Knowledge of Maine’s IIS and experience with state and federal IT systems
