Job Description

Job Summary:

The Resource Development and Communications Coordinator is responsible for helping to increase United Way’s community impact by informing and engaging donors and volunteers through deepening relationships and increased giving. The Coordinator is responsible for year-round marketing, fundraising communications including workplace and individual solicitation activities, organizing special events, and grant writing.

Essential Responsibilities: (other related duties may be assigned)

Resource Development and Annual Campaign:

  • Supports the annual campaign, Loaned Executive program, Campaign Cabinet, and Employee Campaign Manager activities and requests.
  • Maintains donor relationship management system and processes, including donation entry, and maintains annual campaign and fundraising tracking and reporting.
  • Coordinates annual campaign marketing and communications, including workplace and non-workplace activities and presentations.
  • Coordinates donor cultivation and recognition events
  • Produces relevant and informative year-round donor and fundraising communications
  • Researches and applies for grants and public funding
  • Maintains a list of potential financial donors including corporations, foundations, and individuals
  • Ensures consistently excellent and personalized donor experiences by securing all the tools and processes needed

 Marketing:

  • Produces organization’s marketing materials, including annual report, annual campaign materials, donor communications, and community impact outreach.
  • Produces digital communications including e-newsletters, e-campaign solicitations, e-bulletin board messages, social media, website updates, PSAs, photos, and videos.
  • Assists with producing compelling United Way presentations
  • Plans and markets events and engagement opportunities
  • Assists with visual publicity (e.g. signage and banners)
  • Keeps United Way current with the best ways to reach target audiences given changing technologies, demographics, workplaces, and donor preferences.
  • Works as a good partner with other United Ways to support shared workplace activities
  • Supports leadership team communication needs and activities

 Organizational:

  • As part of a small staff team, supports the work of the organization and staff as needed

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to produce compelling solicitation marketing and communication materials
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A leader in time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and function well in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe photo and design, email marketing software, social media and event platforms; experience using fundraising and donor relationship management systems.

Education and Experience:

Successful experience in marketing and fundraising

Several years of experience in fundraising and/or political campaigning highly preferred

Experience in organizing projects, mailings, and volunteers

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary position (approximately 80% of the time)

Proficient keyboarding/typing

Ability to regularly lift 15 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, when not working remotely from home, the employee is frequently exposed to normal office work environment conditions. The office is an internally controlled working environment with few or no hazardous conditions (e.g., fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat/cold conditions, vibrations, and/or airborne particles) in normal work location. The noise level is quiet to moderate. Participation in early morning, evening, or weekend meetings/events is occasionally required. The employee will utilize their own transportation to travel throughout the Mid Coast region.
