Job Summary

Corporate Marketing & Communications (MarCom) is the global marketing and business development unit that builds strong relationships with external influencers and client decision makers in order to enhance Black & Veatch’s revenue. MarCom’s focus is to increase global brand awareness and build client relationships that directly contribute to revenue by deploying innovative marketing and communications solutions. This includes leveraging strong and compelling thought leadership content to inform the sales process.
Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Public Relations & External Communications, this content professional will serve as a member of the external communications team, responsible for developing quality content, leading content-driven projects and executing public relations activities to build awareness of the company’s solutions, innovations and expertise. Critical skill sets include content development, press release writing, social/digital media experience, and project management in a diverse, deadline-driven organization. The Specialist must be able to understand and communicate our strategy and vision to external audiences and in their role within assigned work groups.
Key Responsibilities
General:
+ Provides innovative, well-written/clean copy content in support of department and business unit programs.
+ Able to write both short- and long-form content in a corporate voice; experienced with thought leadership, ghostwriting and op/ed formats.
+ Is a key contributor to the company-wide content marketing program.
+ Develops and maintains strong working relationships and contacts with prime, trade, local and social media outlets, creating earned media opportunities.
+ Works with supervisor to establish priorities, work direction and assignments.
Communications:
+ Manages communications activities, e.g., executing projects, developing/reviewing/editing/ approving content for print and digital use.
+ Participates in forecasting of internal and external needs to develop content for a wide variety of complex marketing and communications applications and programs.
+ Responsible for scheduling jobs into project management tool.
+ Supports Reputation Management activities
+ Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing work and problem solving
Marketing / Branding:
+ Manages projects in support of the marketing function (e.g. leading projects, reviewing/editing/ approving marketing materials and collateral)
+ Oversees content to be used, whether produced internally or by an outside vendor
+ Participates in the development and implementation of strategic plans to develop and promote content to increase the brand identity to maximize company sales and contribute to profitable growth.
+ Focus is on a single, easily identified brand
Management Responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
+ This is a position with the opportunity to develop strong relationships across the company.
+ Familiarity with branding activities including content marketing campaigns, awareness of search engine optimization and social media amplification is preferred.
+ Degree in journalism, communications or public relations a plus, experience in journalism preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, or a related field; or equivalent experience
Experience: 2+ years related experience
