The Role: Pressure Injury Specialist (RN)

Develops and provides services related to orientation, education, and assessment of staff with regard to pressure injuries.

The Opportunity: MaineGeneral Health is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced RN to join our Clinical Education Team as our Pressure Injury Specialist. The Pressure Injury Specialist develops and provides services related to orientation, education, and assessment of staff with regard to pressure injuries. This Pressure Injury Specialist position is 30 hours per week: 18 hours per week in Education & 12 hours per week as a clinical staff RN. Rarely some weekend, evening & night work may be required. The Work:

+ Provides pressure injury prevention education to staff, including classroom teaching, bedside demonstration.

+ Completes PIP (Pressure Injury Prevention) rounds on units to identify problem areas on patients. Performs pressure injury consultation. Acts as clinical staff resource for pressure injuries. Identifies and suggests prevention/treatment options.

+ Collaborates with nursing units. Participates in root cause analysis for PI. Acts as Prevalence Study Coordinator.

+ Position includes a combination of Pressure Injury Education and other Clinical work hours.

You Have:

+ Active Maine RN licensure or ability to obtain same in a timely fashion

+ Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN), preferred

+ At least 3 years of recent med/surg or equivalent clinical nursing experience with a strong interest in pressure injury prevention (required)

+ WONC or WCC, preferred

+ Strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of adult learning principles
