Associate Director of Talent Strategy

To help us further accentuate our values, we are hiring an Associate Director of Talent Acquisition & Strategy to join the Human Resources team.
The Associate Director of Talent Acquisition & Strategy will lead efforts to bring market insights to talent acquisition strategies across all areas of the College. In addition, as part of the HR team, the Associate Director will partner for all to understand changes to employment law, regulation, compliance, and onboarding, compliance and will serve in a consultative and advisory role to department heads. The Associate Director (AD) of Talent will play a critical role in driving Bowdoin’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts by creating and enforcing fair, inclusive, and equitable hiring practices. The incoming Associate Director will manage the talent acquisition & onboarding process and reinforce hiring and onboarding best practices for managers and campus leadership. This role will be collaborative and communicative with the HR team and with managers and leaders across campus.
Additionally, the Associate Director will:
+ Bring a consistency of policy and procedures to the talent acquisition work improving the campus culture and environment regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion.
+ Partner with the VP for HR and Associate Director for HR to ensure a clear vision of how talent fits into the strategic aspects of the work of HR.
+ Manage a small talent acquisition team while providing guidance and support around direct recruiting activities such as sourcing, implementing strategy, interviewing, offer negotiation and onboarding of new employees.
+ This is a working manager position and will maintain roughly half of the active open requisitions at the College.
+ Possess the ability to motivate a team with a clear vision of the overall Human Resources direction, specifically through the hiring and onboarding needs of the college.
+ Work with and provide insight and strategy to department heads regarding compensation, offer negotiation, onboarding, and employment law.
+ Partner with search firms or agencies and maintain contracts and relationships with a variety of vendors.
+ Keep up to date on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to ensure a competitive edge in hiring.
+ Oversees the creation of job postings through various channels, including the institution’s website, job boards, and professional networks. Will also play a role in promoting the institution as an employer of choice to attract top talent.
+ The AD will represent the college in a variety of conferences, networking events, job fairs, etc. as well as work to network and build rapport with members of the community and other educational institutions to help with recruitment efforts.

The salary range for this position is $110,000 – $120,000, based on experience.
Education/Skills Requirements+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

Experience Requirements and/or EquivalentsRequired:
+ Minimum of 7 years’ experience in recruiting and talent acquisition with at least 2 years of experience recruiting within and partnering with the Human Resources team.
+ Proven success with building an effective sourcing and hiring strategy.
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience leading, coaching, and developing a small team.
+ Demonstrated ability to influence, communicate and build relationships at all levels.
+ Knowledge of HR best practices and a thorough understanding of recruiting methods and best practices in addition to a basic knowledge of employment law and regulations.
+ Ability to translate business strategy and operational plans into actionable workforce and talent management plans and programs.
+ Strong ability and understanding of compensation philosophy and practices, able to conduct regular wage analysis, benchmarking against industry and competitors to support the performance management and compensation review processes
Preferred:
+ Workday Recruit experience.
+ ATS Product/project implementation experience.
+ Social media and marketing skills, including LinkedIn.
Standard Work Days and Hours+ Hours are typically 8:30 am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday
+ This is an exempt-level position that requires the time commitment necessary to successfully fulfill all the job responsibilities.
+ This position is an on-site position as an on-campus presence is essential for the role. The possibility of hybrid/remote work days will be discussed once initial onboarding is complete.
