COMPANY OVERVIEW
Spectrum Healthcare Partners is Maine’s largest multi-specialty, physician-owned and directed professional organization and is comprised of over 200 physicians practicing in the areas of anesthesiology, orthopaedics, pain management, pathology, radiation oncology, radiology, and vascular & interventional services. Spectrum provides services at many of Maine’s hospitals throughout the state and in eastern New Hampshire. Annual salary range is: $95k – $103k, depending on experience. POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for directing and coordinating all clinical activities in the Ambulatory Surgery Center by providing leadership and supporting the multidisciplinary team to provide the highest quality of patient care. Position encompasses all aspects of perioperative services including, the OR PACU Pre-admission testing and SPD. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (if any) ASC staff: OR PACU, PAT, and CST ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS+ Coordinates, facilitates, and manages safe care for surgical patients
+ Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates all aspects of nursing care for patients and reporting any equipment, clinical or patient issues
+ Directs and coordinates patient care services, and may be responsible for care rendered by other employees, including the supervision of all nursing staff
+ Directs and evaluates the nursing staff’s ability to assess their patients’ physical, biochemical, and functional responses; and the psychological, sociologic, and spiritual responses of their patients and families
+ Directs and evaluates the nursing staff’s ability to provide consistent, competent, and ethical care
+ Trains direct reports on job responsibilities to ensure that work is performed in a safe, accurate and efficient manner
+ Establishes and maintains effective employee relations by providing direction and coordinating the day-to-day work activities of direct reports.
+ Conducts the appropriate oversight to keep the ASC running efficiently including physician block times and ASC optimizations
+ Responsible for onboarding and training new OR, PACU and PAT staff (this is an essential function)
+ Provides timely and consistent performance feedback and annual performance evaluations in collaboration with ASC Operations Supervisor
+ Communicates effectively with patients, families, providers, staff, and others
+ Provides direct patient care as needed to include operating room circulation and surgical tech support, recovery room and induction
+ Ensures ongoing and effective staff development by overseeing and/or coordinating direct report education and certification activities
+ Assists Operations Supervisor and Sr. Clinical Manager to ensure compliance with local, State and Federal regulatory requirements as well as standards established by CMS and AAAHC
+ Reduces the risk of infection in patients, employees, and visitors by providing a safe environment; Maintains the formulary for infection control
+ Maintains confidentiality at all times
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES+ + Provides support and guidance to providers and staff in designated areas
+ Prepares and conducts regular staff meetings in collaboration with Operations Supervisor
+ Works with the ASC Operations Supervisor to develop work schedules for OR, PACU and PAT staff to meet department requirements and e nsures time, attendance and paid-time-off records are properly tracked and reported
+ Manages the allograft and instrumentation requests
+ Management of all OR rooms including the daily flow and narcotics
+ Recommends operating and capital budgets and monitors allocation of resources
+ Collaborates with purchasing department, making, and approving recommendations for supply and equipment expenses with a defined expense amount.
+ Conducts accident/incident investigations in collaboration with Operations Supervisor and Practice Director to determine root cause and appropriate corrective actions
+ Manages the annual flu shot clinic
+ Works cohesively with surgical scheduling, joint navigation, and other appropriate staff from all clinic and ASC departments
+ Documents the internal benchmarking
+ Manages DEA ordering
+ Keeps abreast of current issues involving patient care or practice issues by attending and participating in department, team, and practice meetings
+ Demonstrates professionalism at all times
+ Support company-wide strategic initiatives
+ Responsible for ongoing personal and professional growth and development and maintaining licensure
+ Adheres to organizational policies and protocols, regulations, and accreditation guidelines
+ Displays cooperative behavior and interacts positively and effectively with others to promote a team environment
+ Performs other duties necessary to maintain the overall efficiency and continuity of the clinic
+ Is proactive in identifying, reporting, and participating in the resolution of any potential or actual patient safety issues
QUALIFICATIONS+ + Completion of RN degree from an accredited school of nursing, BSN desired
+ Active State of Maine Nursing license or eligible for licensure
+ 5+ years nursing experience in a surgery center or hospital surgical environment
+ Previous manager/supervisor experience
+ Demonstrated knowledge of nursing in surgical setting and of sterilization techniques, and OR equipment
+ Current BLS required, ACLS/PALS certification be obtained within 1 year after starting in position and maintained
+ Broad knowledge of nursing in an ambulatory surgery center setting with emphasis on surgical risk factors, patient pre-intra-and post-operative learning needs
+ Knowledge of medical record documentation requirements
+ Skill in reading and following written and oral medical orders
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with patients, physicians, management, and other staff
+ Skill in time management, prioritizing and medical care coordination
+ Ability to work independently and excel as part of a team
+ High level of organizational skills, effective time management, critical thinking, and delegation strategies
+ Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality
+ Excellent customer service skills
+ Proficient computer skills with knowledge of electronic medical records
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT+ + Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally; 18-25 pounds frequently; 6-10 pounds continuously
+ High degree of motor control and coordination
+ Balance and gross motor function required for patient transfers
+ Daily use of computer operating instruments; stationary PC, Laptop PC, keyboard, and mouse
+ Light lifting of paperwork, folders or other general record keeping materials
