Knox County Homeless Coalition (KCHC) is seeking Overnight Support Staff for our Hospitality House Family Shelter for the hours of 12am to 8am. We are looking for caring team players with an excellent attitude, a desire to learn and grow, and a commitment to helping families learn to help themselves. The Hospitality House is KCHC’s extended stay family shelter, providing a warm, welcoming home, and sanctuary for community members struggling with homelessness.
Overnight staff are responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for all shelter residents. Responsibilities include appropriately managing house conflicts, conducting hourly walkthroughs of the house, assisting with house chores, cooking meals for the house, and helping parents with children as needed. Staff should be comfortable maintaining good boundaries while working with people in crisis, and be respectful of individual differences, resident opinions and parenting styles.
This position requires good judgment, flexibility, and the ability to multitask. A High School diploma or equivalent is required. Experience working in residential programs, client support, health and human services, or the medical field is a plus!
This position will pay $18-$20/hour, based on experience. KCHC offers a competitive salary and benefits, including employer-supported health insurance plans (employer pays up to 95% and contributes to a health savings account), optional dental and vision plans, life insurance, short term disability insurance, retirement plan with a 3% employer match, paid time off (starting at 15 days per year), 14 paid holidays (including your birthday!), and additional time off in the summer.
