Spectrum Healthcare Partners is Maine’s largest multi-specialty, physician-owned and directed professional organization and is comprised of over 200 physicians practicing in the areas of anesthesiology, orthopedics, pain management, pathology, radiation oncology, radiology, and vascular & interventional services. Spectrum provides services at many of Maine’s hospitals throughout the state and in eastern New Hampshire. Hours: M-F 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM. This is an onsite position (not remote). Based on experience and qualifications the average hourly compensation for this position will range from $20.00 – $21.00. POSITION SUMMARY Acts as a liaison between patients and the Clinical Areas by facilitating communication with physicians, mid-level practitioners, and other clinical staff while interactively coordinating surgical schedules, and providing general clerical support. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS+ Coordinates and schedules surgeries per physician order
+ Coordinates, assists, and gathers all information needed for surgery and ensures that pre-operative preparation is complete
+ Maintains smooth patient flow by scheduling pre-operative and post-operative appointments and updating all cancellations and add-ons
+ Prepares surgical packets for office visits
+ Triages telephone calls from patients by obtaining detailed history of problem and determining most appropriate action
+ Maintains Providers calendars and schedules
+ Completes disability claim forms
+ Supports other staff with duties as needed during staffing shortages or other designated periods of high volume within the department as time allows.
+ Forwards payment policy or insurance questions to the appropriate person
+ Assists in chart checks for missing information

+ Is proactive in identifying, reporting, and participating in the resolution of any potential or actual patient safety issues
+ Performs other duties necessary to maintain the overall efficiency and continuity of the clinic
QUALIFICATIONS+ High School diploma or equivalent
+ Knowledge of medical terminology
+ Experience in a hospital or medical office setting with scheduling experience helpful
+ Strong customer service skills, with pleasant/professional telephone voice
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
+ Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
+ Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
+ Proficient computer skills
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT+ Daily use of computer operating instruments; stationary PC, Laptop PC, keyboard, and mouse
+ Light lifting of paperwork, folders or other general record keeping materials
+ Operation of various office equipment: fax machine, telephone & voice mail system, stationary/lap top computer, e-mail system, scanner, and copier
+ Lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently
+ Walks frequently
+ May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
+ Occasional reaching, twisting, bending
