Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – 3 West Med/Surg/Post-Op
The Opportunity:MaineGeneral is looking for a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team in our fast-paced med/surg/post-op 36-bed unit. In this role, you will help patients in their most vulnerable times get out of bed, assist patients walking in the halls & overcome life-changing surgeries. If you are a CNA looking to gain experience while perfecting your nursing skills or are a nursing student; this is a great place to start your career. This position is 30 hours per week on the day shift, 7a-7p. You will work two 12-hour shifts one week and three 12-hour shifts the next.
+ Provide great patient care.
+ Answer patient calls and determine how best to help them.
+ Provide physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, – using the toilet, walking, standing, or exercising.
+ Turn and reposition bedridden patients.
+ Ensure patients receive an appropriate diet by reviewing their dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences.
+ Obtain a wide range of information from physicians, caregivers, and nurses about patient conditions, treatment plans, and suggested activities.
+ Record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate as requested by staff.
+ Examine patients to detect issues requiring medical care, including open wounds, bruises, or blood in the urine.
+ State of Maine Certified Nursing Assistant Certification.
+ Current BLS (American Heart Association).
+ Ability to think and work independently and with direction, and communicate with staff members in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
+ High School graduate or equivalent. (Preferred)
+ Comfortable using a computer.
