Job Description:

*Hybrid work options are available. Candidates must live in either Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, or Rhode Island and be available to travel to local offices.

The candidate will serve as a Project Technical Leader for traffic planning and design projects and pursuits in the Northeast. Traffic planning and design includes many technical areas, the candidate’s areas of responsibility will be determined based on their strengths and interest.

-Simulation and capacity analysis – Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, HCS, SIDRA

-Design of traffic signals/signal systems plans, specifications, and estimates

-Safety analysis – HSM methodologies, IHSDM, Safe Systems

-Multimodal and transit analysis

-Corridor, Planning and Environmental Linkages, Needs & Deficiencies studies

-Functional Design and Preliminary Engineering Reports

-Intelligent Transportation Systems

-Traffic management and temporary traffic control plans, specifications, and estimates

-Community traffic engineering and safety issues

-Peer review of traffic studies conducted by others

Minimum Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or a related discipline

-Professional Engineering (PE) license. 10 years of related experience

-Domestic and/or international travel may be required The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands

-Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree

Preferred Qualifications:

-Minimum of 9 years of experience in traffic engineering

-PE in Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, or Rhode Island and the ability to get reciprocity

-PTOE or RSP is preferred but not required

-Strong background with CTDOT, MassDOT, NHDOT, NYSDOT, NYCDDC, or NYCDOT

-Working knowledge of VISSIM, Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD, and/or Microstation/OpenRoads

Background Check and Drug Testing Information:

CDM Smith Inc. and its divisions and subsidiaries (hereafter collectively referred to as “CDM Smith”) reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions. Additional Compensation:

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
