Project Manager, Rare Disease Translational Center
The JAX Rare Disease Translational Center (RDTC) supports the overall mission of The Jackson Laboratory: To discover precise genomic solution for disease and empower the global biomedical community in the shared quest to improve human health. The RDTC works directly with foundations and their associated teams of basic and clinical researchers to generate custom mouse models with clinical mutations to treat and cure rare disease and to support the translation of genomic medicine to the clinic. This position is an exciting opportunity to work directly with the Center in supporting this mission.
We are seeking a Project Manager with a solid background of theoretical and practical knowledge in the biological sciences to understand the project scopes of the RDTC team. This role will be responsible for working with the study director and collaborators to define project scope, goals and deliverables focused on overall project coordination, execution and completion. This position requires an in-depth understanding of operations, available resources for study execution, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with available project tracking and communication tools. This position is the key responsible party to ensure that the project is on track and that internal resources are used responsibly. It works with the operation on a daily basis.
Additionally, this role is required to have knowledge of and expertise in project coordination and display autonomy, proficiency managing large, more complex and strategic projects and institutional contracts. The Project Manager takes the lead role in supporting project execution and manages entire project lifecycle from conceptualization to implementation to project completion to meet Product Development and RDTC objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Project management including coordination and tracking progress on the project, updating all required databases as needed and anticipates possible problems and corrections for successful project execution. Drives the progress of each department or service area involved in the project to ensure that all project goals are met.
Project initiation and development, including IACUC protocol amendment, providing accurate timelines, securing animals, facilities, and staff for studies.
Demonstrated ability to support staff to thrive on change and keep pace with a fast-paced, dynamic work environment which is externally focused
Positive attitude and professional manner in all interactions; demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in biology, animal science, or related discipline and 7 years experience working in animal research, or Ph.D. with 0-3 years, or MS with 5 years of experience
