Job Description

Cianbro is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller. The successful candidate will have three-plus years of senior-level accounting experience in public accounting or construction-related industries. The role will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day controllership functions for our multiple companies, joint ventures, and affiliates.


Job Responsibilities
Overseeing the monthly accounting cycle and closing process.
Work with financial teams to roll out new accounting processes, procedures, and pronouncements.
Complete complex accounting transactions and account reconciliations.
Review and approve monthly account reconciliations to ensure balance sheet integrity.
Work with finance teams to implement process improvement stemming from the account reconciliation process and review.
Support Controller in annual audit preparation and serve as the audit liaison with operational teams.
Completing company financial statements, including published Balance Sheets, Income Statement, and Cash Flow statements.
Mentor, coach, and develop team members through training, goal setting, and communications.
Support the finance team through understanding and maintaining the financial reporting and general ledger structure. Coordination of new company setup and establishment of new general ledger structure (accounts, departments, phase, etc...).
Ensuring strict compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Support teams by setting up company burden rates.
Experience with intercompany/consolidation accounting.
Experience with the completion of closing consolidated earnings at year-end.
Ability to effectively communicate with manager and management team.
Qualifications/Requirements
Four-year accounting degree and a minimum of 3-year accounting experience.
CPA professional preferred.
Understanding of construction cost accounting principles and revenue recognition standards.
Ability to perform work independently with strong critical thinking skills.
Experience with ASC 842 beneficial.
Intermediate skills with MS Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Power Point.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Experience developing and writing accounting policies, processes, and procedures.
