Animal Care Technician

Summary
There is a full-time opportunity for an Animal Care Technician. This candidate works under general supervision to practice basic animal care, husbandry, colony management, animal room maintenance and operations, information systems and record keeping. The incumbent is expected to progress following a prescribed curriculum, learning objectives and practical performance standards. The incumbent is responsible to learn and demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of the curriculum including general duties performed by incumbents for work area disinfection/sanitation, barrier entry/exit and safety procedures.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED and knowledge of barrier room function and animal husbandry as normally acquired with greater than 1 year successful experience
Successful completion of primary Animal Care Training and Lab Animal Science I
Demonstrated ability to maintain mouse colonies and applying proper record keeping
Demonstrated team player
Demonstrated ability to identify sick/ill/deviant mice with guidance
Demonstrated ability to accurately record and report activities with software and enter/extra data
Oral and written communication skills
Interpersonal relationship skills

Pay Range (Hourly Rate): $18.27 - $26.92
