Mid-Level Chemical Process Engineer

The POWER Chemical Business Unit supports both emerging and established hydrogen, biofuel, and general markets as clients improve their processes and seek cleaner, more sustainable solutions.
We are looking for the right professional to fill our currentMid-LevelChemical Process Engineer opening. Our employees enjoy a hybrid workplace environment with the option of working in the office full-time or from the comfort of their homes several days a week. Applicants must currently reside in or be willing to relocate to Houston, TX, Boise, ID, or Minneapolis, MN.
Roles and Responsibilities
Your career at POWER will provide you an opportunity to work on continuous processing systems with an emphasis on the Chemical Industry and Renewable Fuels. You will utilize your experience to help companies ranging from small startup firms to large multinational firms. You will have the opportunity to work on all phases of a project, from the initial concept through the installation and commissioning of new lines, along with upgrades to existing production lines. Your unique skills will help our clients change and adapt their facilities and systems to meet the dynamic changes in their markets.
The Facilities Division of POWER engineers is a full-service A & E consulting engineering firm that specializes and is a leader in Chemicals, Food & Beverage, Federal, and Industrial facility design.
Overall tasks:
+ Design of process systems including:
+ Process modeling using AspenPlus
+ Mass and energy balances
+ Material flow analysis
+ Heat transfer calculations
+ Fluid flow calculations
+ Development of Process Flow Diagrams and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams
+ Develop documentation packages for the successful completion of projects:
+ Work with clients on developing the scope of projects and providing the deliverables for these projects
+ Work with a design team that includes internal and external people in the development of general arrangement and elevation layouts
+ Develop equipment specifications and documentation that meets clients design requirements
+ Develop descriptions of operation for the process being designed
+ Develop equipment and installation cost estimations
+ Develop bid packages, construction packages
+ Customer & Vendor Site visits:
+ Support vendor FAT’s, reviews, and trials
+ Visit customer sites for data acquisition, meetings, and installation/start-up as needed.
Required Education/Experience
+ B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering
+ 5+ years of experience in the design and layout of chemical processing lines
+ Hands-on experience developing process simulations such as AspenPlus
+ Growing knowledge of applicable health and process safety requirements and environmental concerns
+ Excellent verbal and written communications skills
+ Fluent in utilizing Microsoft Office products
+ Flexibility to work overtime as required
+ Professional Engineering License or ability to obtain one within 2 years
+ Software use knowledge with AutoCAD software suites, Visio, Plant P&ID, AspenPlus, MS Project, etc.
+ Ability to travel 20-50% within the United States
Desired Education/Experience
+ Experience in multiple process platforms (gasification, biodiesel, Hydrogen production via electrolysis and SMR, gas separations, distillation, RNG digester & processing & other specialty Chemicals)
+ Cumulative GPA of 3.2 from an accredited university
+ M.S. Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (Thermo Emphasis)
+ Ability to perform any role in a design team environment
+ Ability to delegate and mentor effectively

Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $90K – $125K per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc.
