Job Description
The Technology Evaluation and Development laboratory seeks a Technology and Resource development PhD scientist to further the research and technology goals of the laboratory. The ideal candidate would have completed a PhD program and have 0-3 years of postdoctoral experience. They would be well-versed in research methods including DNA, RNA and protein quantitation and characterization and in working on multiple overlapping projects focused on the generation and characterization of novel pipelines to progress the capabilities of the laboratory in genome editing and the development of modified embryonic stem cells. Knowledge of mouse genetics would be an advantage but not required. It is expected that the individual would be productive working both independently and in team-based projects within the laboratory and with internal and external stakeholders and scientific collaborators and in mentoring less-experienced colleagues. The ability to multi-task and remain productive is an essential element of this position. Excellent project or program management skills would be a requirement. Career opportunities exist towards seeking independent funding in project supporting the overall goals of the laboratory.

Maximize ideas and productivity working closely with a small independent laboratory
Seek novel solutions to identified research problems while working closely with other departments within JAX
Bring projects to completion and publication in a timely manner
Seek external funding, independently, or with internal or external collaborators
Requirements
An early stage researcher within 3 years since attaining a Ph.D in molecular biology, genetics or related fields
Exceptional organization and project management skills
Proven ability to manage the work of co-workers in direct or dotted line relationships
Creative and independent thinking
Extensive knowledge of mammalian genetics, molecular biology, gene editing and gene therapy.
Pay Grade
Dependent on experience, 110-111
