Position Summary
This position contributes and supports Revenue Integrity's Mission towards creating a multidisciplinary revenue integrity team to strengthen the interface between clinical departments and charge improvement process. It is a holistic approach that guides the Maine Health organization toward achieving operational efficiency, complete regulatory compliance, and total reimbursement.
Under the direction of the Director of the Charge Master, this position is responsible for maintaining a consolidated and compliant charging structure within Epic.
They support workflow analysis, design and build sessions with Subject Matter Experts (business leaders, providers and other ancillary services personnel) and instructional designers. They coordinate all issues that arise during the project for their application(s) and are familiar with policies, procedures and constraints of revenue cycle operations. They complete in depth and precise investigation and documentation of operational specifications and application functionality to deliver on expected outcomes. They function as the primary contact to troubleshoot problems and questions from end-users during training, go-live and post go-live periods.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Technical or bachelor's degree or a minimum of three (3) years' equivalent and related work experience required in business or clinical information system management in a hs0pital or ambulatory care setting preferred.
License/Certifications: Applicable professional certification through AHIMA (CCA) or AAPC is preferred and EPIC CDM Certification. Must obtain professional credential within 1 year of employment.
Experience: EPIC HB/PB experience preferred.
Proficiencies: Knowledge of revenue cycle processes and hospital/ medical billing. Understanding of components of electronic medical record. Knowledge of code data sets to include CPT, HCPCS, and Revenue Codes. Knowledge of NCCI edits, and Medicare LCD/NCDs. An understanding of reimbursement theories to include DRG, OPPS, and Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.
Abilities: Due to its service focus, this position requires interpersonal and communication skills, analytic and organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines, computer skills; MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook; Windows operating system and Internet.
