Job Description
Serves as an experienced content strategist, creator, and editor who standardizes and optimizes customer-facing content to meet the strategic priorities of JMCRS. This individual is responsible for developing a content strategy that integrates and supports the Marketing and Business Unit Strategy. The Senior Scientific Content Specialist produces content that is scientifically and technically accurate, properly positioned in the biomedical research marketplace and can be deployed across multiple channels, including the web, digital and print advertising, email, and social media.
The Scientific Content Marketing Strategist is detail oriented, creative, and an expert storyteller with a unique ability to translate complex scientific data into compelling and engaging content. This individual must stay current with biomedical research trends, the various buying persona's needs, and latest content and digital marketing best practices. Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the Scientific Content Marketing Strategist may serve as a team lead for additional content writers and copywriting consultants. This person plays a critical role within the marketing team; guiding the marketing strategy, overseeing the content strategy, and crafting content that Marketing Operations and the Digital team can utilize.
The salary range is $65431.68 - $112472.07. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as content lead for major marketing initiatives, events and products, collaborating with internal teams on development and execution of content strategies that advance business objectives and drive awareness, acquisition, retention and ROI (40%)
Develop a strong understanding of JMCRS target personas and translate complex or niche topics into range of through-funnel assets, ranging from email, blog posts, white papers, case studies and thought leadership content to support JMCRS goals and metrics. (30%)
Measure performance of content assets, drive learnings & insights that can be used to increase the value of future content investments. (15%)
Evangelize content best practices across JMCRS. Own the team's content governance, and recommend improvements as needed. Collaborate with teams across the company to make recommendations on how to improve overall content and consumption based on analytics and performance. (10%)
Serve as an internal advisor to the Marketing team on scientific matters and assists in contouring content to scientific vernacular. (5%)
Qualifications:
Master's degree in the life sciences or related field required. PhD is preferred.
At least five years' experience developing consumable content for a science publication, or other business environment required. Experience can include but not limited to writing blogs, developing webinars, or translating scientific data into customer facing documents.
Demonstrated ability to translate a brand's story and business objectives into innovative strategic content plans across an organization's marketing ecosystem including digital properties.
Self-motivated, detail oriented, results-driven personality.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills required, as well as the ability to write clear, concise scientific copy.
Strong interpersonal skills to work in a high-profile environment requiring discretion, judgment, tact, and diplomacy
Ability to travel occasionally to customer visits or events
Excellent time management skills.
The ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, while maintaining a high-level of professionalism and demonstrated positive behavior.
Minimum Education Required: Master's degree
Preferred Education: Doctorate degree
Minimum Experience Required: Five (5) years
