They must have a proficiency in working with mainframe accounting software, accounting spreadsheets and word processing. + Oversee the day-to-day operations and bi-weekly processing of payroll and maintain employee records, including proper training of Payroll Specialist.
+ Review quarterly State and Federal tax reporting prepared by ADP prior to ADP filing those reports.
+ Prepare general ledger account reconciliations and various payroll reports.
+ Assist with yearend audits including self-insured worker’s compensation audit and organization’s financial statement audit.
+ Remain up to date on changing tax codes and payroll related regulations.
+ Assist with problem solving and ongoing improvements of payroll processing and implementation.
+ Act as a liaison between Payroll and Human Resources as well as participate in the organization’s HR/Finance shared meetings.
+ Participate in the annual agency / program budget process and forecasting throughout the fiscal year, providing rolling budgets as necessary.
+ Update key performance indicators and ratios as established by the Chief Financial Officer and/or Controller.
+ Participate in the implementation of simplifying and streamlining processes.
+ Prepare various financial and statistical excel spreadsheets and schedules as necessary.2. Assist in maintaining the agency’s system of accounts through.
+ Month-end and year-end journal entries.
+ Monthly account reconciliations.3. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personnel networks; participating in professional societies. 4. Assist accounting staff in the absence of other finance leaders. 5. Perform various other duties as deemed appropriate and necessary by the Assistant Controller. QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance; a Certified Payroll Professional Certification (CPP) preferred. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a field related to payroll management, supervision and processing, administration of finances, and financial accountability preferred.
