Job Overview
The Project Accountant supports the Accounting Manager and CFO in monitoring project budgets and cashflow as well as efficient accounting operations . Performs and completes assigned accounting responsibilities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in both documentation and transaction processing. Here are some of the primary responsibilities:+ Prepare monthly billing to owners utilizing the AIA documents
+ Prepare journal entries when required
+ Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget
+ Monitor Change Order status for both approved and pending changes
+ Conduct Accounts Receivable follow-up for assigned projects.
+ Review a ll incoming vendor invoices and sub-contractor invoices and verify their accuracy.
+ Monitor cost on projects to ensure accuracy, especially at month-end.
+ Ensure all required approvals and documentation supports the charges included with invoices
+ May prepare accounts payable check runs, verification and produce checks for signature
+ Respond to vendor inquires professionally and timely
+ Prepare Lien waivers
+ Assist in the monthly closing
+ Prepare daily bank deposits and post daily cash
+ Back up or fill in for other accounting positions as required – scanning and routing accounts payable invoices and other duties as needed.
+ Provide back up to the back up for reception when staff are absent.
+ Documentation and work papers that confirm a sound process
Qualifications
Education and Experience+ Associate Degree or equivalent.
+ Three years of experience of accounting with AP, accounting, or accounting software preferred.
+ Experience in a construction setting, prior knowledge of construction accounting is required.
Demonstrated skills and abilities+ Ability to use office computer for word processing, spreadsheet, and accounting software.
+ Knowledge of Timberline/Sage 300 accounting software or equivalent software is required
+ Ability to follow standard practices and guidelines for data entry, filing, processing of payables, and the like.
+ Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment requiring flexibility and the need to refocus priorities to respond to changing needs.
+ Strong detail orientation.
+ Excellent organizational and time management skills-ability to multi-task.
+ Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with WR office staff, vendors, subcontractors and visitors.
+ Capacity to work additional hours during month, quarter and year end closings
