Position DescriptionThis position is responsible for estimating, planning, executing, and monitoring utility construction projects.

Essential Functions

+ Assess, develop, and manage project plans, including cost, schedule, work specifications, and required resources to efficiently and effectively complete assigned projects within budget, and in accordance with customer requirements and all relevant construction safety and maintenance operating standards/codes/policies/guidelines.

+ Maintain a thorough knowledge of all relevant construction safety and maintenance operating standards/codes/policies/guidelines.

+ Read, interpret, and work from sketches, diagrams, and work plans.

+ Estimates projects and responds to bid proposals as requested.

+ Communicate and collaborate with internal and external team in a professional, courteous manner to meet all project requirements, inventory/equipment needs, and schedules including all required documentation.

+ Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices.

+ Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet customer demands/schedule, including overtime and emergency duty as requested (nights, weekends, holidays).

+ Travel, including overnight, may be required.

+ Perform other duties as assigned by management including leadership responsibilities when required.

Knowledge/Education/Skills/Experience

+ Must have a valid Driver’s License; CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred.

+ High school graduate or equivalent; trade related certificate/degree preferred.

+ Must have a basic working knowledge/understanding of relevant utility design, construction, and maintenance including related equipment, safety requirements, standard operating procedures, and federal/state/local laws.

+ Ability to successfully obtain and/or maintain required licenses/certifications/documents.

+ Must have professional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

+ Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

+ Must demonstrate strong leadership, time management, and organizational skills with attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and maintain accuracy; deadline driven.

+ Must have the knowledge and ability to perform basic computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.

Physical Requirements

+ Ability to obtain/maintain a DOT Medical Examiner’s Card (DOT Card).

+ Ability to work at a computer for approximately 2-4 non-consecutive hours per day.

+ Ability to lift 100 lbs. on an occasional basis and up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.

+ Ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions and including standing, walking, and working on uneven ground for the full workday.

+ Ability to operate/drive all trade related equipment/vehicles for several hours every day.

+ Must have the ability to see/distinguish colors and to hear clearly.
