Job Description
We invite you to be a part of our work empowering people so they can build better lives and stronger communities. We are looking for the right person to be an early childhood teacher in our Bath Center. The Head Start program provides a continuum of services for children ages three to five encompassing education, family engagement, health, nutrition and disabilities content.
Responsibilities: Teachers are responsible for daily planning and implementation of the early childhood curriculum; providing a safe, nurturing learning environment; and supervising the classroom to ensure a smooth flow of daily activities and events. Working together as part of the center team, the teachers conduct child assessments, meet with families, encourage parent engagement in their children’s education, and serve as role models for parents in educating their children.
Head Start teacher positions are full-time, 40 hours per week and are school year schedule including school breaks.
Qualifications:
- An Associate or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field is required. Infant-Toddler or Pre-K Child Development Associates certification may be considered if accompanied by prior related experience.
- Applicants with 081 certification will be given preference in public school pre-kindergarten collaboration classrooms.
- Prior experience working with young children is essential; must have an interest in working with children from low-income families.
- Must be able to lift a child (up to approximately 40 pounds) and be capable of physically bending to a child’s level or sitting on the floor.
Other requirements:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, adequate automobile insurance per state standards, and access to reliable transportation; compliance with MMCA policies pertaining to safe vehicle operation required.
- Prior to starting employment, must be able to pass fingerprinted criminal background, child protective services, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record checks as required by state and federal childcare licensing regulations that indicate no previous record of involvement with child abuse ore exploitation and no disqualifying criminal or motor vehicle record that would preclude working with children.
- Persons offered employment must also provide a physician’s health statement, immunization records, and TB screening. Proof of full vaccination against COVID is required as a condition of employment unless exemption for medical or religious reasons is requested and approved in accordance with law.

Pay ranges: $14.70 to $20.10 dependent on experience, credential, and other qualifications. Head Start Teachers are currently also eligible for a $200-per-month bonus and a $2,500 sign-on bonus payable in 2 installments.
