SMX is seeking a Deputy Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). This is a senior-level position under the SMX Office of Strategy and Technology responsible for coordinating and implementing SMX’ enterprise information security strategy. This position will function as a liaison between SMX’ Strategy and Technology organization and SMX’ business support and customer delivery programs to assist in the implementation and oversight of SMX’ security policies, processes, technologies, and practices and will act on behalf of the CISO in his or her absence.
The ideal candidate for this role should have a strong background in information security, including experience with risk management, incident response, zero trust architecture, and security technologies. They should also have excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to build partnerships with stakeholders across the organization. This role will be remote and up to 20% travel may be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Collaborate with the CISO to develop and implement information security policies, standards, and procedures.
+ Oversee the day-to-day operations of the information security program.
+ Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for mitigating potential threats.
+ Manage the incident response process, ensuring timely and effective resolution of security incidents.
+ Support and preparation for third party audits of SMX systems, services, and processes.
+ Develop and implement security awareness and training programs for employees.
+ Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations and provide recommendations for improving the organization’s security posture.
+ Foster strong partnerships with business units, technology teams, and other stakeholders.
+ Manage security-related projects, including the implementation of security technologies.
+ Act as the backup to the CISO and represent the organization in security-related meetings and discussions.
+ Serve as Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for SMX Enterprise IT and related systems.
+ Oversee SMX participation and contribution to Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Cybersecurity Portal (DIBnet)
+ Coordinate with SMX Safety, Security, and Facilities, and Human Resources to ensure proper physical and personnel security programs are properly implemented across all functional areas.
+ Provide reports and presentations to senior management on the state of the information security program.
Required Skills:
+ Clearance Required: Ability to obtain Secret
+ A Bachelor of Arts in an advanced area such as computer science or information security is preferred; 12+ years of experience in leu of degree will be considered.
+ Strong knowledge of the following security frameworks/standards is required:
+ ISO 27001
+ Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) / NIST 800-171 / NIST 800-172
+ AWS Well-Architected Framework Security Pillar
+ Microsoft Azure Well-Architected Framework Security Pillar
+ Center for Internet Security (CIS) Benchmarks for key systems
+ FedRAMP / NIST 800-53
+ DoD Impact Levels 2 through 6
+ Achievement of an industry standard certification such as CISSP, CISM, CISP, CISA, or Security+ is desired.
