SMX is seeking a Competitive Intelligence Analyst who will work closely with Chief Growth Office principals and business groups to provide deal-based market, competitive intelligence and strategic growth insights to support business development, capture, and proposal efforts for the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community, Federal Civilian, and Commercial Agencies. This role is 100% remote with less than 20% travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Execute Competitive Intelligence and Price-to-Win (PTW) analysis, and participate in cost/pricing strategy development, as needed.

+ Support and/or lead competitive assessments, market assessments, black hats, and strategic planning efforts in support of market growth and development of go-to-market strategies.

+ Develop mathematical models of competitors’ likely bid strategy with war-gaming flexibility to determine competitors’ price to bid.

+ Provide market insights and competitive research both proactively and in response to ad hoc requests, utilizing proven industry tools and data such as GovWin, Bloomberg, and FPDS.

+ Partner closely with Executive and Group leadership and Strategic Growth team to assess potential M&A candidates through market analysis

+ Contribute to maintaining a library of model documents, templates, and reusable knowledge assets – Tier 0 self-help information and artifacts

+ Create and/or maintain business intelligence dashboards to visualize opportunity dynamics

+ Support strategic growth initiatives to include assessments of market alignment to new business areas

Required Skills and Experience:

+ US citizenship required for work under DoD contracts

+ Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience directly related to this position

+ Experience working on multiple types of opportunities (e.g., services, development, production/integration, CONUS/OCONUS) and contract types (CPXF, FFP, T&M)

+ Facility with financial statements and experience in financial analysis and modelling

+ Strong research and analytical abilities to take data, information, and concepts to produce clear and credible insights and recommendations

+ Experience with multiple PTW analysis techniques including bottom-up price projections, top-down analysis (e.g., Government Budgetary analysis), and parametric estimating

+ Experience with data management, analysis, and presentation software, such as spreadsheet (Excel), presentation (PowerPoint), Teams, Adobe, and CRM (Salesforce)

+ Ability to work as part of a highly collaborative team during capture/proposal efforts with geographically dispersed teams

+ Ability to craft and deliver clear, concise, and impactful presentations for executive-level leadership that provide actionable intelligence and recommendations

+ Ability to work independently with limited oversight

+ Ability to manage multiple assignments and work them simultaneously

+ Problem-solving skills – the ability to break down problems by asking good questions, gathering and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, and presenting effective recommendations

+ Although the position is remote/virtual, we are looking for people located in the United States with knowledge of US markets; Eastern time zone is ideal
