Summary
Position Summary
This position is for someone interested in joining a hands-on team at the MaineHealth Institute for Research, Scarborough, ME, which is contributing to biomedical research in the areas of cardiovascular disease. Our team is specifically interested in defining the role of lipids in heart disease. This Research Assistant will be trained to conduct a variety of laboratory procedures under the general supervision of the , or the PI's designees. They will assist biological and medical scientists in laboratories. The Research Assistant will learn to set up, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, monitor experiments, make observations, and calculate and record results. They must be able to recognize problems or deviations in experimental conditions and notify appropriate personnel. They must be able to master routine techniques and procedures relevant to overall goals of the lab. Position availability is directly related to grant funding.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: High school diploma preferred. Bachelor's degree preferred.
License/Certifications: N/A
Experience: No prior years of relevant experience required.
Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and work effectively.
Visual acuity, manual dexterity, math skills and a scientific acumen are required.
