Position Title:                            Restaurant Support

Positions Available:                   Six (6), full-time and temporary

 

Location of Employment:            80 Commercial Street Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538 (Boothbay Harbor Town)

 

Position Duties:            

The restaurant support position includes seating customers at tables, clearing dirty dishes from tables and taking them to kitchen, setting up tables with new place settings, carrying trays of food to the dining areas, assisting servers as needed (pouring water, coffee), and stocking supplies in the dining areas (silverware, napkins, condiments, ice).

 

Rate of Pay:      Tipped position with a guaranteed wage of $13.80 + DOE (The employer will pay or exceed the prevailing wage, as determined by the US Dept of Labor.)

 

Tipped position, employees will receive tips/gratuities guaranteeing they will be paid $13.80 per hour.

 

Hours per Week: 35 (OT is possible, to be paid at $20.70 + DOE)

 

Start Date:        05/01/2023

End Date:         11/15/2023

 

Work hours: 35 hrs/wk. Work schedule can vary and can include evenings, weekends, and holidays.  Work performed on any day of the week from Tuesday through Sunday. Days off vary. Sample Shifts: 8am – 4pm; or 12pm – 8pm. Shifts vary. Workers are paid bi-weekly.

 

A single workweek will be used to compute wages due. Workers will be paid every two weeks by check. All deductions from the worker’s paycheck required by law will be made.

 

Housing is offered and optional. The cost of housing, if accepted, is $125.00 per week. Cost of housing includes utilities. If used, the total cost of housing will be deducted from the employee’s paycheck. A $200.00 refundable security deposit is required, to be deducted from employee’s first two (2) paychecks in two (2) equal $100 installments.   

 

3 months experience required. The Petitioner will consider for employment any person who possesses at least three (3) months of experience at a high-end hotel, resort, or private club.

No min education or training is required. On-the-job training is provided. Transportation (including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging) to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed, by check separate from payroll, if the worker completes half the employment period. Return transportation will be provided if the worker completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer. In other words, if the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work by check separate from payroll. Upon completion of the work contract period, or where the employee is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for the worker reasonable cost of return transportation and subsistence back home or the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $14.00 per day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 per day with receipts. The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first work week for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees). The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.
