Job Description
Provides electrical project engineering and technical support of electrical construction phases including project controls, circuitry blueprint interpretation, and compliance, contract compliance, scheduling, document control, and engineering means and methods.
Job Responsibilities
Assist in proper project planning, value-added engineering means, and methods, developing work packages and preparing production indicators/benchmarks, and developing schedules
Interpret electrical design/drawings/circuitry for installing electrical equipment, instrumentation, wiring, controls systems including electrical system operations, troubleshooting, and performance testing
Provide electrical construction technical support including voltage/amps specification and circuitry diagram analysis and grounding
Ensure proper permits are in place (identify any state or local laws relating to safety or environmental compliance); Educate team to ensure understanding and compliance with permit requirements
Research and resolve drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors. Verify that all completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings, and specifications. Provide electrical engineering technical input to the daily job log
Interpret production goals from work packages for craft supervisors, ensuring full understanding to enable daily communication of productivity goals to crews executing the work. Verify quantity tracking data and measure productivity
Track progress of the major Vendors and Subcontractors to ensure that materials are manufactured and delivered in a timely fashion as not to impact the project schedule
Generate and maintain the project submittal log, Requests for Information log, Correspondence with client/owner, contract compliance listings, buyout logs, procurement reports
Identify, document, and estimate costs of extra work activities, which were not anticipated in the original scope and provide proper notification and financial reporting of change orders. Establish and maintain a project change order log that ties to the UAR.
Coordinate the transmittal and subsequent approval of all submittals to the Owner/Engineer
Assist in estimating of installation of various electrical systems, equipment selection, and proposal evaluation, requisitioning, and coordinating equipment delivery
Interacts with client, regulatory, state, and federal agencies, the general public, business and professional organizations, and external consultants and subcontractors
Supports change order and purchase order preparation and reviews, including planning, scheduling, and specification/contract conformance reviews
May perform project financial reporting and trending functions and the invoice/billing process
Qualifications/ Requirements
BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience for the role
Minimum of 5 years of heavy electrical construction engineering experience to include estimating, cost management, contract and subcontract administration, and project schedule
Understanding/experience with regulatory processes and permitting is a plus
Possess excellent computer skills in Excel, Word, and familiarity with Mapping, GPS, and/or CAD type software
Detail-oriented with the ability to work collaboratively with external contractors and consultants
The ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate with owner representation and project stakeholders is essential.
