Job Description
The Human Resource Generalist/ Senior Human Resource Generalist is an on-site resource responsible for managing various HR tasks and operations for both business units and/or site personnel. Working under the direction of the Senior Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP), this role provides day to day support in a number of key HR areas and supports various HR initiatives as determined by the Sr. HRBP and/or HR leadership. This on-site role is responsible for acting as a liaison between local site HR and various centers of excellence (benefits, compensation, HRIS, talent acquisition, learning and development etc.). Provides key support in implementing organizational and site-specific HR policies. Works with the Sr. HRBP to ensure compliance with employment laws, including documentation and reporting, as required. The incumbent may be designated as a lead for a specific client group and/or functional group depending on operational need.
Bar Harbor/Ellsworth or Portland, ME!!
If local to Bar Harbor/Ellsworth, ME this role can be hybrid remote with 4 days onsite. If outside of the local area it can be fully remote with occasional travel to Bar Harbor for events/meetings as needed. There will be an office opening in Portland in the future and this role will be hybrid remote to the Portland office 3-4 days onsite each week once the office is open.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions
Provides day to day HR support in a variety of areas such as employee relations, policy implementation and interpretation, training and development, performance management, HR metrics, employee activities and other various HR deliverables as assigned.
Aligns work and coordinates activities with broader HR organization support functions, including learning and development, compensation, benefits, talent acquisition and People Services support.
Coordinates and works closely with HRIS to ensure systems are compliant with internal policies and local and federal regulatory requirements.
Facilitates disciplinary procedures, performance improvement plans and/or termination of employees as appropriate.
May be designated as key point of contact for specific business unit/and or client group.
Coaches and guides managers and provides support on day to day employee relations issues.
Conducts and documents workplace investigation, following established HR processes and procedures.
Sr HR Generalist Additional Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions (In addition to above)
Demonstrates a high level of knowledge of HR policies and identifies where changes may need to be made in coordination with the Sr. HRBP, People Services and CHRO office.
Works autonomously and finds ways to improve processes and create efficiencies to support the HRBP team.
Provides advanced HR support with minimal supervision in a variety of areas such as employee relations, policy implementation and interpretation, training and development, performance management, HR metrics, employee activities and other various HR deliverables as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
HR Generalist
*Knowledge of HR methods and practices as would normally be acquired through completion of a high school diploma and relevant work experience in a customer facing or Human Resources Management or a related discipline; seven (7) years preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
*Professional certification (PHR, SHRM-CP/SPHR, SHRM-SCP) preferred.
*Knowledge and ability to interpret and apply state and federal labor laws and regulations, including wage and hour, equal employment opportunity, and affirmative action.
*Exceptional organizational and project management skills, including the ability to plan, schedule, and successfully carry out multiple projects at the same time to successful conclusion.
*Ability to be effective as member of a collaborative management team.
*Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain collaborative work relationships with employees, leadership, managers and HR colleagues.
*Experience working with HRIS systems, specifically Workday, and other relational databases.
*Exceptional Analytical skills and ability to manage and organize data to provide recommendations based on analysis.
*Knowledge of leadership skills and techniques with demonstrated ability to motivate and lead others toward the accomplishment of individual and shared objectives.
*Ability to anticipate needs and take action, continually searching for ways to increase client satisfaction.
*Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Ability to respond to multiple demands and shift priorities as needed.
