Position Summary
has an immediate need for a per diem Switchboard Operator. The Switchboard Operator is responsible for answering incoming calls in a timely manner and maintaining accurate flow of communications for multiple sites associated with Mid Coast - Parkview Health. The operator also monitors emergency alarms throughout the hospital and medical office buildings and promptly dispatches in house emergency responders. Back-up support will be provided to the Emergency Department Registration staff on a daily basis as needed.
Responsibilities
Serves as the first point of contact for patients calling the organization.
Accurately connecting callers to departments, providers and inpatients.
Calling codes during urgent/emergent situations and coordinating paging.
Perform or support additional functions within the Patient Access service line.
Functions are performed in a high volume, fast paced environment.
Provides exceptional customer service and support to visitors and families and has an in depth knowledge of departments, classes/events and services offered.
Must convey a caring and professional attitude for all patients and visitors.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.
License/Certifications: N/A.
Experience:Minimum of one years' related experience as a switchboard operator or receptionist for medium to high volume office/Call Center preferred. Experience in healthcare setting preferred. Experience in customer relations required.
Accurate Data Entry required.
Basic working knowledge of Microsoft word, Access, and excel programs preferred.
Basic understanding of internet explorer and/or internet usage.
