Job Description
Knox County Homeless Coalition (KCHC) is seeking a caring, collaborative-minded, and solutions-oriented team player to join us as our new Assistant Director of Youth Services at The Landing Place!
The Landing Place (TLP) is KCHC’s comprehensive youth program which provides support for highly-resilient and often marginalized youth living in Midcoast Maine. We strive to inspire hope, restore purpose and belonging, and break cycles of poverty through outreach, case management, shelter solutions, and a drop-in youth center.
The Assistant Director will play a critical role at The Landing Place, working closely with the Director of Youth Services and the KCHC team at large. This dynamic position will support all aspects of youth programming as well as provide administrative support to the Director. Primary areas of focus include administrative and community outreach support for The Director of Youth Services, assisting program staff with drop in center needs and coverage, being part of the youth residential programs team including transitional apartments, and respite shelter and programming, as well cover a third of the TLP on call rotation, and support with the youth case management program.
The ideal candidate will show strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills, as well as a passion for connecting with young people. The Assistant Director will need to communicate clearly with fellow staff and volunteers, exercise good professional judgment and boundaries, and be able to give and follow written and verbal directions.
Staff should have at least 3 years of experience managing programs and working collaboratively as part of a team on behalf of high-risk youth, a background and/or degree in social work, human services, and/or alternative education is preferred. Staff must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record, be comfortable driving a 12-passenger van. A positive attitude, empathy, and good judgment are a must!
Training in First Aid/CPR, Defensive driving, and Passenger Assistance Techniques will be provided. Background and license checks will be required prior to hire.
This position will pay $55,000 - $65,000 a year based on experience, with additional compensation for on-call time. KCHC offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including employer-supported health insurance plans (employer pays up to 95% and contributes to a health savings account), optional dental and vision plans, life insurance, short term disability insurance, retirement plan with a 3% employer match, paid time off (starting at 15 days per year), 14 paid holidays (including your birthday!), and additional time off in the summer.
