Job Summary
The Associate Director, Data Management and Analytics serves as the key technical resource providing oversight of gift and data management, reporting, and training for the Raisers Edge NXT database. The incumbent possesses expertise in data and gift management, data systems, and reporting and is critical to maximizing the efficiency, effectiveness, and utilization of data and systems within the Advancement team to meet the revenue goals of the fundraising and stewardship efforts at The Jackson Laboratory.
This role can be fully remote or hybrid remote to our Farmington, CT or Bar Harbor, ME offices
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place for gift and fund management, acceptance, and compliance
Work with key internal and external stakeholders to promote operational excellence and efficiency
Maximize utilization of technologies to streamline operational processes and create a systematized approach to gift management, receipting and acknowledgment
Plan and implement a data hygiene program keenly focused on accuracy and best practices
Serve as primary data entry and extraction specialist for the Advancement Department
Create and distribute progress and analysis reports that help inform fundraising strategy and track results
Partner with the Finance Office to ensure all donation information, gift reports, endowment fund accounting, annual audits, and financial reconciliation are complete, and properly and accurately entered according to CASE guidelines
Optimize development systems and ensure the ability to generate useful and timely reports
Manage the import/export and integration of data from multiple databases and/or other related systems
Generate acknowledgment letters, receipts, and pledge reminders
Develop and administer cohesive end-user training to ensure effective and efficient utilization Raiser's Edge NXT
Serve as primary liaison with Finance office
Keep abreast of new technologies, data-driven metrics, and changes in gift management best-practices
Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of gift and data management best practices as would typically be acquired through High School Diploma and 6+ years of work experience in a professional business environment working for senior level management and/or a bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a closely related discipline and 2 years of work experience in a professional business environment working for senior level management
At least five years of Donor Database Management experience, preferably Raiser's Edge
Strong knowledge of gift management best practices and expert understanding of CASE Global Reporting Standards
Possess independent judgment and sound project management skills, including the ability to independently produce, organize and manage multiple projects to meet required deadlines
Utilize and maintain up-to-date knowledge of philosophy, intersection, and best practices between fundraising, stewardship, and data analytics
Demonstrated skill in research and data analysis to prepare concise reports and gift summaries
Produce complete and accurate spreadsheets, correspondence, and reports in a timely manner, prioritizing work to effectively balance multiple assignments with minimal supervision and demonstrating a commitment to donor service
Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information
Desire and willingness to work collaboratively in a team-based environment with internal and external constituencies
Work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds
Expert level command of Microsoft Office (Word, Access, PowerPoint, Microsoft 365, and advanced Excel), and fundraising databases, preferably Raiser's Edge
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as required for special events
Successful completion and passing of a background check including a clean driving record and criminal history are required
