Line Cook Supervisor

Job Description

Working with the chef, help with the day to day running of our kitchen along with assisting and training our prep and line cooks with preparation, precision and making sure each plate is at its best. Duties: 

Maintain food, beverage, and equipment inventories. Manage parts of food service operations. Operate kitchen equipment. Develop equipment maintenance schedules and arrange for repairs. Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with other kitchen staff, and have all work together efficiently. Supervise prep cooks [1-2], line cooks [1-2] and dishwashers [1-2]. Identify educational/developmental needs of kitchen staff and coach, mentor, teach, instruct or otherwise help to improve their knowledge or skills. Implement / establish training programs. Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates. Perform personnel actions, such as, providing employee orientation and training, and conducting supervisory activities, such as creating work schedules. Train workers in food preparation, and in service, sanitation, and safety procedures. Forecast staff, equipment, and supply requirements, based on a master menu. Assign duties, responsibilities, and workstations to employees in accordance with work requirements. Specify food portions and courses, production and time sequences, and workstation and equipment arrangements. Supervise and participate in kitchen and dining area cleaning activities. Conduct meetings and collaborate with other personnel for menu planning, serving arrangements, and related details. Remain calm and able to deal with issues in a busy kitchen. Check and “polish” plates before they reach our customers. Help to develop staff with a coach-centric approach. Strive to deliver the highest quality of food and contribute to exceeding expectations. Consistently execute all systems, standards, and processes. Inventory control (food & product cost) / FIFO. Create and implement recipes and specials. Handle the opening and closing kitchen duties in the spring and winter. Assist with interviewing and hiring for the upcoming season. Assist with menu creation and costing.

Requirements: 

  • No education required
  • 1 year of kitchen line experience required.
  • Must be able to work 35 hours per week, rotating shifts Monday – Sunday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. or 2 p.m. – 10 p.m. Shifts may change slightly based on restaurant hours during the various seasons.
  • Night and weekend work is required. Overtime may be required depending on workload.
  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours per day and lift up to 50 lbs.
