Working in Head Start and Early Head Start Program

Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for 50 years is currently seeking a full-time (40 hours/week; benefits eligible) Division Manager to fill a vacancy within our Child Development Team in Family Enrichment Services. Travel to 3-county service area (Knox, Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties) may be required.

Location: Bangor, Maine

The Division Manager will work closely with the Head Start Director and act on behalf of the director in their absence. The position is responsible for the hiring, on boarding, and training of all Head Start staff. The position supervises the Child Development Program Managers. The candidate should have knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards, state licensing standards and Americans with Disabilities Act. The candidate will work collaboratively with Head Start Partners to ensure that community awareness and support of Penquis Child Development is enhanced.

Required Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field with five to seven years paid work experience, including two which are supervisory or administrative in nature, or other experience as deemed appropriate by the Director. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; computer proficiency and experience, including word processing skills; budget development and monitoring experience; and experience facilitating meetings and training.

The salary range for this position is $60,119 to $90,178, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
