ABOUT THE POSITION
Structural Engineer/Designer 3 – Assist with the project proposal process; task management in the planning, analysis, design, and detailing of structural projects (e.g., highway, pedestrian, and railroad bridges; commuter rail stations; marine structures; energy projects; retaining walls). For a detailed segment of a project, lay out full plan designs, plan details and outlines, identify quantities of materials, estimate costs, and perform calculations. Develop design plans for new and existing infrastructure systems, from conception to final design using automated engineering and design equipment. Lead structural inspections/evaluations and associated load capacity ratings. Assist senior engineers with a variety of assignments, such as the design and detailing of structures that support or resist loads (e.g., highway, pedestrian, and railroad bridges; commuter rail stations; marine structures; energy projects; retaining walls). Perform project scoping studies and alternatives analysis. Prepare construction contract documents and technical reports. Provide technical guidance and assign tasks to and coordinate work with entry-level engineers, technicians, and/or administrative employees. Participate in professional and personal development aligned with career goals. Perform quality assurance and review of deliverables. Plan and coordinate task schedules for inspection and load rating projects.
Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field and three years of work experience in the job offered or related field of civil or structural engineering.
Must have the following:
+ 3 years of experience working with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in structural engineering.
+ 3 years of experience working with structural design, materials, mathematical formulas, detailing, and seismic analysis.
+ 3 years of experience in industry-standard structural analysis and design software including AutoCAD, STAAD, AASHTOWare Bridge Design and Bridge Rating.
+ Must have EIT certification or PE licensure in state of assigned projects or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Position located in South Portland, ME.
Remote work benefit available 50% of time within normal commuting distance from office location.
