At Regions, the Business Unit Data Scientist assists with the development of data-driven solutions for business problems across the enterprise. The ideal candidate at this level is developing a knowledge base of quantitative analytical methods, data management, visualization, and programming. This position contributes to the analysis of diverse sources of data to achieve targeted outcomes.
+ Collaborates with business unit leaders in determining requirements and developing data-driven solutions, as well as providing ongoing support
+ Uses quantitative and analytical techniques to unlock potential value across all functional areas of business units
+ May utilize Big Data tools (Hadoop, Spark, H2O, CDSW, Domino Labs, etc.) to build simple data analytics solutions
+ Assists with the design and development of machine learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) models from development through testing and validation
+ Designs rich data visualizations to communicate complex ideas to business unit leaders and executives
+ Draws insights from data to make quick, well-informed decisions with available information
+ Primarily focuses on daily deliverables of routine and defined outputs, while at the same time developing knowledge of the broader context in which the work is being performed
+ Participates in knowledge sharing sessions with more experienced data scientists and those within assigned business unit to better understand goals of the team
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
+ Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience
+ Or Master’s degree in related field
+ Experience in banking and/or other financial services
+ Experience with Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or Artificial Intelligence
+ Experience with programming languages such as Python, Ruby, R, Matlab, Scala, or Java
+ Experience with Big Data technologies
+ Experience in libraries such as TensorFlow, Pytorch, or Keras
+ Experience in Agile Software Development
+ Knowledge in Google Analytics and/or Adobe Digital
Skills and Competencies
+ Advanced Structured Query Language (SQL) skills
+ Familiarity with both relational databases and Hadoop-based data mining frameworks
+ Developing understanding of statistical and predictive modeling concepts, machine learning approaches, clustering and classification techniques, and recommendation and optimization algorithms
+ Proficient in visualization tools like Power Business Intelligence (BI), Tableau
+ Developing business acumen with the ability to communicate with both business and Information Technology (IT) leaders
+ Strong communication skills through data visualizations, written and oral presentations
This position may be filled at a higher level depending on the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience.
Spark ML and Scikit-learn are highly preferred for this position.
Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.
